A Book Lover’s Guide to Independent Bookstores

Welcome to Angry Algonquin! I am a voracious reader (see a pic of my library below) and I love independent bookstores, so I came up with this idea to encourage readers to support their local booksellers. Last year, I also became a book blogger for publishers such as Orenda Books and Corylus Books. Check out my reviews by clicking on the links on the right.

Why Angry Algonquin? I’ve chosen the name to pay homage to Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, Alexander Woollcott and all the other Algonquin Round Table regulars. The Algonquin Round Table was a group of New York City writers, critics, actors, and wits. Gathering initially as part of a practical joke, members of “The Vicious Circle”, as they dubbed themselves, met for lunch each day at the Algonquin Hotel from 1919 until roughly 1929. Learn more about them at http://www.algonquinroundtable.org/.

My favorite room in the house.
